[Le Thésaurus de Roget, publié en 1852, comprend deux parties à peu près égales. La première est une classification systématique des sens et la deuxième est une liste alphabétique des mots. On entre typiquement dans la première partie en recherchant une référence dans la deuxième. On trouve alors des synonymes et des antonymes mais aussi des mots pour des concepts voisins autour de chaque référence. Aucun mot n'est défini. Il est théoriquement possible aussi - mais rarement pratique - d'accéder à la première partie depuis un plan ou un tableau synoptique.  Le tableau synoptique est si peu utilisé qu'il est tout simplement omis de l'édition Penguin.]

[ Roget's Thesaurus, first published in 1852, is made of 2 roughly equal sections. The first is a systematic classification of meanings. The second is an alphabetical listing of words. One typically enters the first section by looking up a reference in the alphabetical listing. One then finds synonyms and antonyms but also neighboring concepts surrounding each reference. No definitions are given.
